Krampitz large tank farm – how it works
How does the Krampitz large tank farm work? How is fuel distributed throughout the system?
The heart of the system is the administrator. The input and output unit of the tank farm. This is where the system is filled. And on the other hand, the vehicles are refueled. The fuel, on the other hand, is stored in the workers. 60.000 liters per container. The following fuel distribution routes are possible:
- Filling the workers
- Refueling from the workers
- Filling the administrator tank
- Refueling from the administrator tank
And this is how the individual distribution channels work:
1. Filling the workers
The worker containers are filled by the administrator. To make the fuel flow clear, we hide all other containers. In the administrator there are different piping systems for the filling and refueling process. Let's first concentrate on the filling process and hide all the components that are not involved. The fuel is sucked from the tanker truck via the filling connection to the filling pipe system and pressed into the collecting line to the worker containers via the feed pump.
The fuel then flows into the tanks via the risers in the workers. Central control in the administrator can be used to determine exactly which workers are to be filled. Here in our example we fill everything up and get a total capacity of 600.000 liters. By the way, the baffles here are custom-made for regions at risk of earthquakes. This is how the tank farm is filled up. Now let's look at how tanking from workers works.
2. Tanking from the workers
To refuel, the worker tank from which the fuel is to be drawn is first selected via the central control. When the refueling process is started, the fuel runs through the extraction pipe via the 2nd collecting line back into the administrator. Now into the tank circuit - we hide all other elements again. The fuel is passed on to the fuel filter via the feed pump. Here the fuel is cleaned and then flows further to the back of the administrator. To the output unit. Where the vehicles are refueled.
3. Filling the administrator tank
Refueling is also possible via the internal 20.000 liter tank in the administrator. This means that the system has another tank available. This makes it possible to refuel vehicles via the shortest possible route. To fill the tank, the fuel flows from the tanker via the connecting coupling into the filling pipe system. The fuel is now not pumped to the workers via the feed pump, but rather into the administrator tank.
4. Refueling from the administrator tank
Refueling from the administrator tank takes place again via the tank circuit. The fuel is fed from the administrator tank via the feed pump to the filter, is cleaned and then flows further to the back of the administrator. To the output unit. The vehicles are refueled here.
