Storage tank containers and tank farms
Storage tank containers and battery tank farms
Our Storage tank containers are generally used to store fuels and chemicals. Likewise will special storage tank containers produced for the storage of kerosene, crude oil, heavy oil, transformer oil or urea.
The majority of storage tank containers are based on international ISO dimensions as high cube tank containers (20ft-HC / 40ft-HC).
In the recent past, the Krampitz company has received more and more Oversized container orders with a volume of 75.000 to 96.000 liters. These containers are produced under the system names “KTD-F-75” and “KTD-F-96”. They are 3.000 mm wide, 12.000 or 15.000 mm long and have a high cube height of 2.900 mm.
For large storage quantities over 50.000 or 100.000 liters of a medium the kombinier us several Tank container the same size to a tank farm. For total volumes of up to 500.000 liters we work with the 40ft HC-Minotaur series, and over 500.000 liters with the 50ft KTD-F series.
A Large tank farm consists of a centrally located central container and up to 10 universal storage tank containers with special tank farm equipment. Five storage tank containers are installed on both long sides of the central container.
The central container – structure and function
The Central container has a large double-walled receiving and dispensing tank in the middle. The receiving or pump section is integrated on one end face, and the dispensing section is located on the opposite end face.
The Pump section is equipped with two 1.000 liter pumps (1.000 liter delivery speed per minute). Here, the pipeline routes for filling the storage tanks with fuels and for extracting fuels from the storage tanks are also switched electronically via a central control.
The Selection of storage tank containers takes place automatically via the Central control, which opens or closes the installed motor valves on the selected storage tanks. The filling levels of the individual container storage tanks can also be retrieved via the central control.
In the pump section there is a 4 inch dry coupling to which the Tank truck making delivery connect. The transfer pumps use this to suck the fuel out of the tank trucks and pump it into the receiving tank.
The Output section is equipped with a 2-inch loading arm for delivery rates of up to 500 liters per minute and a 1 1/2-inch hose drum with a nozzle for dispensing 150 liters per minute to vehicles. Furthermore, one can Fuel dispenser installed for output control.
The following pump switching paths are possible:
- Convey from tank trucks directly into storage tank containers
- Pump from tanker truck into day tank
- From storage tank container to tank truck dispensing section (deliver 150 gallons / 600 liters)
- From storage tank container to tank truck dispensing section (deliver 300 gallons / 1200 liters)
- From day tank to tanker dispensing section (deliver 150 gallons / 600 liters)
- From day tank to tanker dispensing section (deliver 300 gallons / 1200 liters)
The battery storage tank container – structure and function
The Battery storage tank container are installed on both sides of the central container. Up to five units on each side. With this maximum suction line length of approx. 20m horizontally, the centrally installed transfer pump can work without any problems without suction problems (cavitation). Of course, the pipe system must be filled by pouring during initial commissioning. The pumps can then be operated without any problems.
There is one in the front wall of the battery storage tank Niche integrated. This niche accommodates the filling and suction collection pipes, which are passed through the niche. These collecting pipes hydraulically connect all storage tanks to the central unit.
Connection pipes go out of these collectors via T-pieces into the respective storage tank, which are equipped with electric motorized ball valves. These motor ball valves are controlled by the central control of the central container. The respective tank can be selected via the central control in order to fill or empty it.
A central control module, which works together with the central control, is installed in the niche. This contains the electronic overfill protection of the tank, the evaluation of the electrical content display as well as the fuses and relays for the motorized ball valves and the lighting as well as the light switches for the interior and exterior lighting.
Accessories of the respective Battery storage tank container are light masts, platforms with parapets and 2 pipe fittings each DN100 with a length of 600m.
Use of battery storage for large consumers
This is where fuels and consumable media are delivered, stored and consumed. Next to the tank farm is a Tank truck acceptance-Section needed. The delivery medium is delivered towards the industrial plant.
We distinguish One-media large tank farm and Multi-media large tank farm. Single-media large tank farms are the large battery tank farm described above, i.e. a medium in a battery.
Multi-media large tank farm consist of a storage tank container, which has the receiving and issuing technology installed in a simplified form on both front sides of the tank body. This means that mixing different media is impossible.
The operators of large tank farms are:
- Large consumers such as power plants
- Manufacturers such as specialty refineries and chemical manufacturers
- Fuel and chemical suppliers
- Logistics company for fuels and chemicals
Large battery tank farm for manufacturers of liquid media
Media such as fuels, additives and chemicals are delivered here, stored, refined in production, stored again and delivered to customers.
In addition to the tank farm, the tank truck receiving section and output section are required.
Fuel and chemical suppliers
The industrial supply companies have large central warehouses, but often also decentralized buffer or delivery warehouses. The difference here is the smaller storage volume per medium, but there are many media.
In the central warehouse you can up to 1 million liters be embedded by a medium. The buffer storage usually holds 50.000 or 100.000 liters of a medium.
Special receiving and issuing sections with extensive equipment are installed for the central warehouse.
For the multi-media buffer storage, receiving and issuing equipment are installed in the machine compartment of the storage tank for each tank. So is in the narrowest space the complete technology for one Tank farm logistics present.
