Content displays for tank containers and storage tanks
Krampitz functional videos
Various measuring systems are used to display the contents of Krampitz tank containers. From purely mechanical to fully electronic. Here we show you how the systems work.
dipstick
The Dipstick is the simplest version of a content display. Simple, robust and fail-safe, it shows the filling level on the scale. The division here is in cm. The dipstick hangs vertically in the tank and is surrounded by a dipstick. To read the level, look to see where the scale is wetted. Like here in the example at 10 cm.
With the included leveling table you can now read the tank volume in liters or in percent using the fill level.
Float content display with float arm
These content indicators are simple, robust and work purely mechanically. They permanently display the tank contents as soon as there is liquid in the tank. The current filling level can be read on the scale between 0 – empty and 100% – full. The float arm in the tank raises or lowers depending on the fill level. This movement is transmitted to the display pointer via a gear wheel.
The mechanics positioned in the tank are completely decoupled from the pointer display on the outside. The rotational movement is transmitted using a magnet.
The Float content display with float arm comes with all of our single-walled ones Day tanks TTE 50 to TTE 990 with a tank height of 300 to 800 mm.
Float content display with thread float
The float content display with thread float also works mechanically. The float of the indicator hangs on a nylon thread and is connected to a gear and the needle of the level indicator via a pulley.
A spiral spring keeps the pulley under tension.
The Float content indicator with cord let's build in our day tanks with a tank height of up to 1,5 m. The display is in cm.
The indicator thread is automatically wound up by the spring tension when the filling level rises and automatically released when the filling level falls.
Here too, if necessary, the exact number of liters of the filling level can be determined using an exact dip table.
Electronic float content display
The electronic float content display permanently displays the tank contents and does so extremely accurately. In our tank containers, it is installed behind the dome entrance, right next to the dipstick, and read out via the container's central control.
The measuring instrument is able to evaluate two swimmers at the same time. The red float is used to measure the level of the medium and the green float shows the level of the condensate water at the bottom. The filling heights are specified with millimeter precision and can also be converted into liters.
Ultrasonic electronic content display
The one mounted in the tank roof Electronic content display via ultrasonic sensor permanently shows the tank contents. The functional principle is simple but extremely precise and is also used in tool making. The device emits ultrasonic waves that are reflected from the media surface and return to the ultrasonic sensor. The filling level can be determined via the signal transit time, i.e. the time between sending and receiving the ultrasound.
We tested this with a multimeter. We connected the operating voltage – 12 volts – to the blue and brown cables. Now we connect the measuring device to the signal line of the sensor. We measure the current strength. The measuring range is between 4-20mA. If we now change the distance to the table surface, the current strength also changes. This sensor works on both liquid and solid surfaces.
The current intensity indicates the distance between the surface and the sensor. In this way, the exact level of the medium in the tank can be determined in the sensor's electronic evaluation device. This value can be displayed in percent, level or, as an option, in liters.
