Vacuum leak detector function
Krampitz storage tank and gas station containers: vacuum leak detector function
Environmental protection has a high priority at Krampitz. That's why we only use containers in our containers Class 1 leak detector, the best in the industry. So-called vacuum leak detectors.
And this is how they work:
The tanks are double-walled. A second wall, a second tank, in which the medium is located, is welded in front of the outer wall at a short distance inside. This is how it is created a surveillance room between the inner and outer walls, which is controlled by the leak detector.
There is a vacuum pump and a measuring unit for vacuum monitoring in the leak detector. Explained here with a pressure gauge.
The air in the interstitial space is sucked out via the suction line and discharged into the tank via the exhaust line. In the event of a leak, explosive gases from the suction line do not escape to the outside.
The suction line itself runs to the lowest point of the interstitial space. At When the leak detector is put into operation, the vacuum pump starts, the air in the monitoring room is completely sucked out and a vacuum is created.
The negative pressure, the vacuum, is constantly monitored via the measuring line. Since a slight drop in pressure in the vacuum system cannot be avoided over a longer period of time, the vacuum pump starts every now and then to keep the negative pressure constant.
If there is a leak in the tank, the negative pressure drops rapidly and can no longer be maintained by the pump.
If the limit value is reached, the leak detector triggers an alarm.
This happens when the outer shell breaks.
But what if the inner tank leaks?
The medium reaches the liquid barrier via the suction line. This stops the inflow and the suction line is closed. The vacuum pump can no longer generate a vacuum. The negative pressure drops and the alarm is triggered.
This also happens here Leak detection within a very short time. This makes the system 100% secure.
Thanks Vacuum leak detector, which monitors the inner and outer shell at the same time, the medium can never leak unnoticed.
